I had an opportunity to visit Cebu Safari Adventure Park in Cebu last January 22, 2020. We went there to celebrate my brother’s birthday. It is the largest zoo in the Philippines and a perfect weekend getaway.
We went on a Wednesday and it was not crowded. It was also just after the Sinulog Festival so all the tourists have left Cebu already. We were considering visiting Cebu during the Sinulog festival to experience it but the prices for accommodations are much more expensive so we decided to just visit when the festival ends.
Tip: If it is your first time visiting Cebu, I highly recommend visiting on the 3rd week of January, right after the Sinulog Festival ends. Flights and Accommodations are more affordable and there is also not much crowd. You will definitely have a pleasant experience just like us. Find out more about what we did during our one day in Cebu.
This is where you can buy your tickets. However, we recommend purchasing discounted tickets from Klook just like what we did. It is more convenient and you just need to show your ticket from your phone. Upon entering the zoo, I already felt like I am in a different place and not in Cebu. I love the nature and the scenery, it felt very calm and peaceful.
The first thing we did was to visit and see the white lions. The white lions are the highlight of Cebu Safari Adventure Park.
Upon arriving at the entrance for the white lions, we need to ride another vehicle. This time, it is no longer an open vehicle like the one we previously ride on.
I expected to see a white as snow lion, but the lions looked a little yellow. The tour guide told us that it is caused by the dirt that is why they are not as white. He also shared that they have a total of 7 white lions, 3 from Germany and 4 from France. However, they cannot be together because they are not from the same pride. All their white lions are male.
For our next stop, we went to see the crocodiles. I was not really interested but my brother and mom wanted to see them.
These saltwater crocodiles are the largest of all living reptiles, as well as the largest riparian predator in the world. They are regarded as the most dangerous to humans due to their size, aggression and distribution.
There is also otters near the crocodile area and they were so cute. I forgot to take photos of them
Lunch at Cebu Safari Adventure Park
For our lunch, we went to the park’s restaurant. The food is not really good for me and it was a bit pricey too, however, the view is so beautiful. It is such a nice experience to dine with a view of giraffes.
We had a very close view of the giraffes while we are having our lunch. It is a very calming and relaxing atmosphere. This is one of the most memorable dining experience for me.
After lunch, we did the African Safari tour. If you want to experience the safaris in South Africa but you don’t want to travel far, you will be able to experience it at Cebu Safari Adventure Park. However, don’t expect to see animals such as elephants, tigers, hippos, etc.
What I like about Cebu Safari Adventure Park is that they not only have animals, but they also have flower gardens. We actually did not know that they have flower gardens, we just kept walking until we stumbled upon this area. There were also no other visitors on this area. It was super quiet and peaceful. It was a nice experience walking and hearing the sound of water from the river and having this breathtaking view.
There’s also a café in the area so we decided to take a break and have some snacks and coffee and just enjoy the beautiful view.
This part of the zoo is such a hidden gem as not many people know about this and we also just stumbled upon this place by coincidence. This area is actually my favorite in the park. For those who are not a big fan of zoo like me, you will definitely still enjoy it because of the flower garden area.
The zoo is too big that I felt like we really did not able to see all of the animals and explore all the areas but it’s also another reason to come back next time, hopefully when this global pandemic is over.
I hope you enjoy reading about my experience at Cebu Safari Adventure Park. I highly recommend everyone who will visit Cebu to add this place to your itinerary.
