Are you craving for Japanese souffle pancakes? The viral Japanese souffle pancakes cafe from Hong Kong am.pm finally has a branch in Manila. Their very first branch is located at the newly-opened Ayala Malls Manila Bay. Am.pm is a cafe based in Hong Kong known for its famous Japanese pancakes. They actually have only one branch which is located along Nathan Road in Mongkok. They usually have a long queue and you usually need to wait for an hour or more. You do not need to fly all the way to Hong Kong just to taste the famous Japanese pancakes. Am.pm has finally opened their second branch in Manila
The meaning behind Am.pm’s name comes from the period of time AM, which means ante meridiem or before noon. Post Meridiem or post noon stands for PM. The reason why am.pm is the name of the cafe is because it is best eaten during the morning for breakfast and in the afternoon for snack or why not both.
These Japanese souffle pancakes are very special because they are best known for their softness and lightness. Aside from that, it also has a cloud-like feel when you taste them. You can even watch from the clear glass of how they do the souffle pancakes before they serve them.
This cafe is usually crowded but we were lucky that we were the only customers when we visited. We visited on a Friday around 2 in the afternoon so if you want to visit without the long queue, you can try visiting around the same time that we did.
I love the aesthetics of this cafe. The cashier area is similar to a food truck and the chairs are so cute. Am.pm is one of the best Instagram cafe spot in Manila. Every corner of this cafe is just so photo worthy.
This booth is the most popular in the cafe because of the photo worthy background on the wall, perfect for Instagram. We were fortunate that we were the only customers and were able to take photos on this spot.
Am.pm cafe offers different flavors of souffle pancakes aside from their original. You can choose from a lot of options such as Tiramisu, Creme Brulee, Shizuoka, Matcha, Mixed Berries, and an exclusive flavor that can only be ordered in Manila, Ube!
The original souffle pancakes (P140 or $3 ) are made up of Japanese flour, original cream, and fresh eggs. They are crafted by dessert chefs from different countries such as Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. I ordered their signature Creme Brulee Souffle Pancake which costs P210 or $4. I love how they are blow-torched and caramelized on the spot. My mom ordered the Tiramisu which costs P180 or $3.
Aside from Japanese souffle pancakes, they also sell milk tea. There are also different flavors of milk tea but we just ordered the Pearl Milk Tea.
I still plan to visit this cafe again and try out other flavors such as the Shizuoka Matcha and Ube pancakes. I tried to visit again on a Sunday and the line was so crazy but hopefully when I get the chance to visit Manila again, I will definitely visit this cafe again.
