Am I in Mexico? This is the first thing that came to my mind upon entering Mooon Cafe. Yes, the spelling really has 3 O’s. You’ll immediately feel the Mexican vibe of this restaurant, from the colorful and vibrant seats to the Mexican inspired uniforms of the waiters and waitresses and of course their menu which offers Mexican inspired dishes.

If you are traveling to the Philippines, I highly recommend you to check Mooon Cafe. It has several branches in Visayas and Mindanao. Mooon Cafe has over 5 branches in Cebu alone and Cebu is also one of the top destinations in the Philippines.

I’m so glad that there is a Mooon Cafe restaurant near my hometown. The first time that I dined here in Mooon Cafe was when I was still in junior year in high school. Mooon Cafe also just recently opened its branch in my hometown during that time too. The colorful and vibrant interiors will make you feel like you have been transported to Mexico. My hometown did not have any themed restaurants or cafes during that time so Mooon Cafe has always been my favorite go-to restaurant.

Campesinos

It has been a while since we last dined in Mooon Cafe so my mom and I decided to dine here yesterday. There were no other customers yet when we entered since it was only eleven in the morning. We were the only ones there. For appetizers, we ordered Campesinos (170PHP or 3USD), which consists of beef fillings, tortilla chips, cheese, and spiced paprika. Our server warned us to be careful of touching the plate since it is a hot surface. For some reason, we always order Campesinos whenever we dine here, it has become our habit.

Mooon Cafe is also where I got to try Mexican baby back ribs (285PHP or 5USD) for the first time. I remember how much I enjoyed the taste and it’s something that I just have to order whenever we dined here. However, I did not enjoy the baby back ribs they served this time as much as I used to. It still tasted great though but I remember how it used to have a bigger serving with more side dishes. I tried the baby back ribs in Hole in the Wall PH in Century City Mall, Makati and I prefer theirs than the one they serve here.

Gambas Ala Luna

We ordered Gambas Ala Luna (245PHP or 4USD), we don’t usually order this but we tried it out. Although I am not a very big fan of shrimp, I really like the taste of Gambas. When the server served this dish, I was a bit disappointed but I don’t want to judge it just by its appearance. It actually tasted great but I prefer the gambas that we tried at Gerry’s Grill

Mooon Cafe is still one of my go-to restaurants. It might not be the best but the combination of good food at an affordable price plus the amazing ambiance is what made me enjoy dining here.
