When travelers visit Osaka, they will surely not leave Osaka without trying Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki and Creo-ru is a great place to try them. Both of these dishes are very popular in Japan and both of them originated in the Kansai Region. Osaka is also best known as Nation’s Kitchen, the food here will surely not disappoint.
Before I have arrived in Osaka, I have already researched where to eat Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki. I have watched Angela’s video also known as internationally ME on YouTube about their food trip in Osaka. This is how I have discovered this restaurant.
We visited Creo-ru on a Sunday for lunch. It was our final meal before flying home. There are two queues outside, one is for takeout and another one is for dining in. We queued for the dine-in instead of the take out.
If you queue for the dine-in, the server would ask you if you want to dine upstairs or downstairs. If you choose downstairs, you can cook and make your own Okonomiyaki. But if you choose upstairs, the chef would cook it for you and the waiters will serve your dish. We chose upstairs so that we don’t have to make our own okonomiyaki.
Another thing I like about this restaurant is that there’s a glass window inside. You can enjoy the view of Don Quijote with the Ferris wheel.
You can browse the menu on the tablet on your table. Once you have decided on what to order, just click on the photos. You need to wait for a few minutes before the waiters will serve your dish to your table.
The waiters first served us a skewer of some specialty of Osaka. They are also called kushikatsu, another must-try food when in Osaka. They are also served with a dipping sauce, there is a wide variety of sauce that can be found on your table such as green tea salt, mayonnaise, takoyaki sauce, kuchikatsu sauce, etc.
If you like fried food, then you would definitely enjoy these. My favorite is the one in the middle, I can’t remember the exact name but it is pork with cheese.
We ordered two different types of takoyaki. The first one is just a classic takoyaki with the flakes and the second one is a unique takoyaki dish that I have not seen anywhere else, you mixed the egg and green onions with the classic takoyaki and it will have a unique taste. It is a popular dish and it is also one of their best sellers. I’ve seen almost every table ordered this unique takoyaki.
Finally, the last dish is this special okonomiyaki. It is a mixture of some meat, bacon, seafood, and vegetables.
If you want to try Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki when you visit Osaka, I highly recommend Creo-Ru. You will not be disappointed with their service and the quality of their food.
